NYC Mayor BLOOMBERG Goes To Bat For CBGB
August 31, 2005CBGB, the legendary New York City club whose lease expires today, is "a great New York City institution" worth saving, New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg said, according to The New York Post.
Bloomberg yesterday said the city is "trying to bring" the club together with its landlord, the Bowery Residents' Committee, so the nightspot can settle back-rent issues and negotiate a new lease.
"It's more than just another club," Bloomberg said.
A 3 p.m.-to-7 p.m. "Save CBGB" rally is being held today in Washington Square Park.
